For GCE ‘O’ Level Examination itself, Organic Chemistry constitute a high weightage of the overall marks. For the last 7 years, Organic Chemistry make up about 25 marks and more for Paper 1 and 2 combined. This is alot of marks for a Topic itself and you should be well versed in it. To me, Organic Chemistry will give us the Base to achieve our A1s and A2s.

not too sure for this one.

10|Jul|2008 2Nope.Option A is definitely wrong because for ethanol to be an acid,it must be oxidised via a oxidising agent(KMnO4 or K2Cr2O7) or by atmospheric oxygen. In this case it’s oxidised by atmospheric oxygen.
Products of oxidation of alcohol will be the carboxyllic acid and water. So my answer will be B.

16|Jul|2008 3Hey Jennifer.
Answer should be B for this one.
Alcohol are oxidized to Carboxylic Acid by oxygen gas (present in air), and in the process
water is also produced.
This is one of the Chemical Properties of Alcohol.
